A February Conscious Living Invitation!

Ever feel like you’re living your life in a fog, a little lost in rushing here and there, writing emails, interspersed with checking your phone and tending to others? It sometimes feels so easy to notice what’s “wrong,” while what’s “right” in this moment slips by without any fanfare. Sometimes it’s hard to see what’s right in front of you!

This is where our practice of mindfulness in tiny moments can begin to shine. We can find little sparks throughout any normal day (yes, even today!) when we can choose to open our eyes, ears, and all of our senses, to engage more fully with what’s happening.

At MBMS, we call this part of Conscious Living— living with our eyes open, being intentional about where we place our attention. And while living consciously isn’t always fun or easy, it leads on a path toward wellbeing.

So we want to have a little fun with this! We want to see if we can use social media intentionally as a way of noticing, reflecting, and connecting! We’re kicking off our first Instagram challenge this February with a month of invitations to pay attention.

Here’s how it works:

First, you’ll want to make sure you’re following @montereybaymeditation on Instagram.

Each morning in February, we’ll post an inspiration to pause, notice, connect and reflect… something simple, fun, and engaging that encourages you to be mindful in your daily life.

You take it from there, keeping it in mind throughout the day and seeing what you notice!

At some point during the day, post your own photo that represents your experience. Make sure to tag @montereybaymeditation with the hashtag #awareinthismoment. This will give us the joy of seeing your posts!

At the end of the month, we’ll check out those who have participated for at least 25 days, and we’ll do a special prize drawing! One special member of our community is going to receive a Mindful Moments Desk Set to carry on the practice!

So if you’re game to try it, if you want build the habit of approaching each day with the intention of being awake and aware, share about it on social media, especially Instagram (tag @montereybaymeditation with the hashtag #awareinthismoment) and say “I’m in!”

Bonus points if you tag friends and invite them to join in! :)
