When we allow ourselves to sense that we are part of Earth and that Earth is part of us, something deep inside awakens. There is a feeling of coming home and of profound caring. In this half-day retreat, we come together to re-member this sacred connection and to honor it with presence, appreciation, and intentional service.
“The living world is engaged in an ongoing conversation.
To participate in that conversation, we must remain in place,
we must allow ourselves to be known and we must listen.”
– John Crockett
Gathering together in the beautiful landscape of Hastings Natural History Reserve, we find ourselves attuning with the interflow of life through meditation practices and invitations to deepen our relationship with Earth through silence, sharing, creativity, and service. In this way, we discover the poetry and mystery of Place, and we more clearly hear our calling to tend to this precious world and all her beings – our kith and kin.
“When we walk mindfully in the natural world – attuned to the voices of the birds,
the alternate unfurling and dormancy of plant life,
… the tracks of coyotes — a great deal of truth about the interrelationship
between humans, plants, animals, and the land is directly revealed to us.
This attunement is our most authentic, most innate way of learning and knowing.”
– Lyanda Lynn Haupt
When we experience all Life through our heart, right relationship naturally emerges. Our questions become: What am I called to give? What happens when I source my action in love?
