As human beings, we were born with a negativity bias that makes it very easy for us to notice what’s “wrong.” This innate bias is intended to help us detect and avoid danger. The only problem is that simply detecting what is uncomfortable or desired doesn’t serve our wellbeing! We benefit so much from the cultivation of a more balanced experiencing of our world.
“Joyful Living” is all about turning toward the good that is already occurring— the whole array of mini-and-major-miracles happening every single day, only waiting for us to acknowledge and receive them. Through teaching, sharing, meditation, and daily practices, we will encourage and support each other in embracing “the good stuff.”
Cultivate awareness that naturally leads to gratitude;
Uncover the treasures of the everyday;
Put yourself in the path of joy.
You're invited to try out a 21-day "challenge" implementing simple daily practices as easy, practical ways to shift our way of being.
In this challenge, you’ll receive…
~ Encouragement in these practices,
~ The support of our community through our online course area,
~ Additional background resources,
~ An invitation to join on 4 Zoom calls
Ways to Participate:
Deep: Commit to trying 1 or more tiny daily practices, and be supported in our online group.
Deeper: How (and why) do we embrace joy in a world where suffering is so evident? What are the ways that we can consciously disrupt “gratuitous negativity” and invest in gratitude? Join us for Tuesday evening online gatherings for teaching, sharing, and meditation to deepen your practice of Joyful Living.
Deepest: Expand on this joyful journey by joining this round of Flourish & Bloom Collective. Our Tuesday morning calls in November will focus on “Planting Seeds: The Power of Intention” where we will explore: awareness of personal choice in where we focus our attention, embracing a spacious perspective, shifting the “negativity bias,” and cultivating resilience. (This 3-month session also includes December: Sending Down Roots: REST as Invisible Germination and January: Cultivating Balance: Living as Your Whole Self.)
I am excited to draw from folks in the field of positive psychology, and to go beyond warm and fuzzy to real, researched ways of becoming happier and experiencing more wellbeing. I can't think of a better time to do this than NOW. Check out this video all about the challenge. Feel free to invite your friends and family, anyone you know who could use a boost of JOY!
