“If you ever find yourself empty from something you cannot know or name, find a stretch of ocean, a field, or mountainside, or even clouds or trees. Because there are a thousand simple ways to fill your tired soul so you can remember how to be, how to see, and most importantly, how to breathe.”
- Victoria Erickson
The natural world is filled with aliveness and beauty that draws us in, invites us to be fully present, fills the senses, and sparks wonder and connection.
We can invite ourselves into conscious relationship with the natural world by slowing down and practicing mindfulness, an experience that’s different from a hike, and set apart from the day-to-day routine of doing in service of being.
In this mindful outdoor experience, you'll be guided to experience the natural world in a brand new way– by paying attention, going slowly, being still, and consciously opening your senses.
Your guide is Katie Dutcher, trained and certified as a Kripalu Mindful Outdoor Guide, who will offer practices of:
Gentle movement to warm up the body and bring inner awareness,
Mindful breathing to quiet and focus the mind,
Walking meditation to move consciously over the land,
Sensory activation to awaken and hone your senses,
Nature meditation to simply be, to devote full attention to experiencing this present moment in this spot on Earth.
…and while Katie offers invitations to connect with yourself and with the natural world, your most powerful guide and teacher is the natural world itself, unfolding all around you.
This is an audio experience that invites you to move through wherever it is that you call Home, connected with others who are walking the land where they live.
Discover for yourself how relationship with the natural world soothes, heals, and refreshes; and learn simple practices to cultivate mindfulness in nature, wherever you go.
This is a free event in collaboration with the Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District. While no fee is collected, participants must register via the MPRPD website.

This event meets online through an audio call. Your facilitator will be guiding you in a Mindful Outdoor Experience. For this experience, you'll want to take yourself to a natural area, ideally nearby where you live. It doesn't need to be anywhere special, just wherever is convenient for you, a place where you'll feel comfortable to sit and to move around a bit, and where you will have cell phone reception.
All you'll need is comfortable shoes and clothing, as well as your fully charged phone and earbuds. Plan to have one earbud in to hear the facilitator and one earbud out to hear the world around you.
For this workshop, you will call in to the Zoom meeting with audio only, as a phone call using this information. Upon registering, we will send you the call information. To participate at the end of the experience, you'll use *6 to unmute/mute your microphone and *9 to raise your hand.
